About

Hylics is a recreational program with light JRPG elements.
- Mason Lindroth, creator of Hylics.

A game in three acts, revolving around Wayne, a man with a moon for a head. He travels through a surreal chain of islands on a quest to defeat Gibby, the king of the moon. Wayne meets many characters who speak in randomly-generated and nonsensical dialogue, and very few who retain their coherency. Even the game's narrator, Dracula, speaks mostly nonsense. It is implied by later-released content [6] that this due to Gibby's influence. As such, Hylics is very story-light, even as compared to Hylics 2; the player is given very little direction and so must rely on a few NPCs mentioning locations, and their own intuition and exploration to guide them through the game's content.

Hylics 2 follows Wayne as he embarks on a surreal journey to prevent the return of a great threat. Guided by a prophecy, he sets out from the Waynehouse and travels to New Muldul, where he reunites with his old ally Pongorma. As they continue their quest, they are joined by Dedusmuln and Somsnosa, each bringing their own skills to the team. Together, they explore strange landscapes, battle bizarre enemies, and uncover the plans of the mysterious Odozeir. Using their airship, they travel across the world, infiltrating enemy strongholds and overcoming powerful obstacles. Their adventure eventually takes them beyond the living world and into the unknown, leading to a final showdown with Lord Gibby in his floating fortress. The story unfolds in a dreamlike, abstract world filled with cryptic mysteries, surreal encounters, and unexpected twists.

News/Things I Want To Say

Hylics 3 is currently in development! Although the release date is unknown.

This game is one of my biggest inspirations, the characters, the world, the aesthetics, are all so unique. And I feel like a little bit of everything I make has little bits and pieces derived from this game.
